I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of
Cay your letter No.2171/1909-10 of the 12th February respecting
the request made by Mr.E.S.Lindsey, Chief Resident Engineer
on the Kowloon Canton Railway that he may be granted the
same house allowance as was drawn by Mr.Eves, and to inform
you that there is nothing 14 our correspondence with Mr.
Lindsey relating to this allowance, nor can we remember that
the matter was raised at any of our conversations with him.
2.
I enclose a copy of a letter which we have received
from the Consulting Engineers in reply to our enquiry
as to whether any statement had been made to Mr.Lindsey by
them.
3. The question was considered by us and the Consulting
Engineers whether Mr.Lindsey's agreementshould provide for
the consolidated allowance of £200 per annum drawn by Mr.
Eves and it was arranged that it should provide for a
travelling allowance or expenses only, as embodied in
clause 6 of the agreement.
